Had the International Super Spy been of US pedigree , our first encounter with him at the fancy Le Cercle Club in Dr No would not have seen him dressed in his exquisitely tailored tuxedo sipping a Vodka Dry Martini. Instead he would likely have been fitted out in a Hawaiian shirt with a comically oversized cowboy hat, dropping poker chips on the floor, and smoking an unfeasibly large cigar as scantily clad waitresses kept the beers coming.
Because let's face it, in Europe we do a lot of things a little differently to our American cousins, and our Poker Rooms are no exception.
Here we have a strict dress code; there, as long as you're dressed, you'll get in. Here we must leave the gaming area to enjoy the fine wines and gourmet food on offer; there, all they ask is that you try not to spill the ketchup from your cheeseburger on the Craps table. Yes, here in Europe , we do Poker Rooms with a little more class.
Granted, the strict dress code can sometimes makes for an uncomfortable few hours. You often have to pay an expensive membership fee to so much as set foot inside the door, and once inside you better have deep pockets to pay the astronomical prices for the food and drink, but then you don't really go to a European Poker Room expecting to have a good time, do you? You go for the image. You go for the status. You go to show people that you're sufficiently high up the social ladder to be able to enter the building without anyone alerting security.
In American Poker Rooms, they let anyone in so long as they're old enough! Any Tom, Dick or Harry can wander in off the street in jeans and a t-shirt, grab a beer and play for whatever stakes they like! The elegant walnut and leather interior of the European Poker Room is replaced by the blinking, flashing, flickering neon which adorns every corner of its US counterpart. It's tacky, it's cheap and it has virtually no class, but let's be fair - at least they're fun!
Thanks to the Internet, we Europeans can experience the fun element of the American Poker Rooms, which those on our own continent seem to have neglected to include in their oh-so-stylish gaming rooms.
Here at BetEuros, our goal is to provide US style Poker Room action Online, but tailored to a European audience. We're just getting started, but eventually we intend to offer Online Poker betting in Euros, and versions of the site in all major European languages. So watch us as we grow, and enjoy playing our Poker games for free!
